FEMALE PHOTOGRAPHERS VIENNA, initiated by Eva Mühlbacher in October 2017, currently consists of a team of six curators and art educators. The initiative is aiming at making the work of women in photography in Vienna more visible, as well as supporting networking and cooperation between female photographers.

The initiative's main platform is Instagram. As a medium that can reach far wider audiences than only the Viennese photo community, it is the ideal place for FPV to present and promote the work of Viennese photographers from all genres the medium has to offer.
Each week one photographer and her take on photography is being spotlighted. Historical personalities in photography are featured alongside contemporary positions, to underline and honor the pioneering role these women have played.

The group is organizing bi-monthly get-togethers for female photographers to network and to provide a place for seeding cooperation between women in photography.
One of the main goals of our project is to give female photographers a chance to present their work. By using the hashtag #femalephotographersvienna, they can share their images more widely and submit their work for a feature.

One of the other objectives of the initiative is to acquire funding to conceptualise and realise exhibitions and be able to provide workshops for female photographers.
